Artificial Lighting

Overview of the project:

Over the course of the year in Biology I decided to conduct an experiment on how each different artificial lighting colors effects a green bean growth. I also made a research paper on the reasoning behind each artificial light color and the benefits.

Stages in the Project:

-Preparing for the green beans (Buying supplies)

-Setting up separate growing environments

-Growing seed from packet

-Soaking seed in water, stored in dark environment

-Fertilize soil

     -Prepare to grow green beans

-Plant newly sprouted green bean seeds

-Wait for growth

    -Document data

    -Compile research

-Create research paper accordingly to project

Beginning of Project:

At this point of the project I just finished fertilizing the seed and planted the green bean seeds into the soil.

Middle Point of Project:

At the halfway point of my project my plants seemed to be growing accordingly to my research that I have done. Each plant had noticeably different growth margins.

Ending of Project:

At the halfway point of my project my plants seemed to be growing accordingly to my research that I have done. Each plant had noticeably different growth margins.

Reflection of the Project:

All in all this project was very difficult. Personally I found growing plants in artificial lighting very hard. Keeping each individual green bean alive for the whole semester due to the fact that initially the plant that was grown under the green light was given a less of a chance due to the science behind it. I really liked that I had to really challenge myself on maintaining a proper watering schedule to keep the green beans alive. What I disliked the most about the project was the setting up the plants to grow. It was very hard to initially start and relying on a seed to sprout.
